Medtronic, medical device maker, recently announced the opening of its first Therapy and Procedure Training Centre in India.

The Centre will provide hands-on training to cardiologists implanting devices for the management of life threatening cardiac problems like that of arrhythmias and coronary heart disease using a simulator-based virtual catheterization lab.

The centre's state-of-the-art classroom and program lab will also provide training on the programming and follow-up management on such devices.

The Chennai, India centre has been setup to help fulfill Medtronic's commitment to ensure physicians are properly knowledgeable and skilled to effectively and safely implant device therapy for patients that suffer from heart failure and other such diseases.

"The centre aims to provide cardiologist with tailored, peer-to-peer training courses on implantable cardiac device therapies that cover the most recent advances in patient diagnosis, device functioning, implantation technique and follow-up management of patients with device implants, " Managing Director Milind Shah said.
