Medtronic announced it will buy ATS Medical Inc. for $350 million. The company makes heart valves and other cardiac devices. In doing so, Medtronic will also take on $20 million of ATS Medical's debt.

The purchase will expand and strengthen Medtronic's cardiac product offerings, said Scott Ward, president of Medtronic's cardiovascular division, in a press statement. He called ATS "an innovative and successful company that is well respected by cardiac surgeons throughout the world."
