Medtronic's new treatment for faecal incontinence showed promise based on published data from a clinical trial.
The company's InterSlim Therapy was tested on 120 patients affected by the condition who had previously failed to respond to other treatments. The data showed the device helped to reduce the number of incontinence episodes.
This device functions by applying mild electrical stimulation to the sacral nerves controlling the bladder, sphincter and pelvic floor muscles, with the aim of delivering perfect continence.
