In a few short years, a new pacemaker like device to help fight obesity may be available.

Researchers say the electrical implants can help those people lose weight by influencing a key nerve that signals fullness and hunger.

Experts believe the devices would not only be safer but less invasive then gastric bypass surgeries.

Companies investigating this new technology include Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson and EnteroMedics who are testing a device called Maestro. They hop for U.S. approval in 2010.
