Many doctors are welcoming the concept of medical care over the internet. A leading cardiology expert says remote-controlled treatments that appear revolutionary now will become customary over the next decade.
Dr. Grainger, a researcher who has been studying heart disease for over twenty years at Cambridge University believes this is how medical devices will advance.
The one thing that cannot be replaced remotely is how patients feel, but it will allow doctors to cater to and monitor patients' 24-hours a day, which can only help to improve the quality of patient care.
Medtronic, an American company which has developed the technology, said its device would improve prospects for patients and cut down on costs for the NHS because fewer staff would be needed to support the growing demand for check-ups.
