Doctors at Northeast Georgia Heart Center and Northeast Georgia Medical Center are enrolling patients in a clinical study that will be the first to evaluate the EnRhythm MRI SureScan pacemaker system designed to be safe for use in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
The results of the study can have a significant impact on a great many people. Pacemakers have extended the lives of millions of patients that have irregular heart rhythms. Each year nearly one million pacemakers are implanted in patients around the world.
The clinical trial is a prospective, randomized, controlled, unblinded, multi-center study, involving 470 individuals. All patients in the trial will receive an EnRhythm MRI SureScan pacing system, and two-thirds of the participants will receive MRI scans. The expected study duration and follow up time is approximately 30 months.
